Udupi: Kapu Municipality appeals to Muslims not to shop in Mari Pooja
A call for a trade boycott movement by Hindu organizations in the coastal, Malanad district.
A campaign has been launched on social networking sites to ensure that Muslim shops are not allowed in Udupi religious centers, fight against those who do not pay a court verdict, and one day shut down shops.
Activists of Hindu organizations on Friday appealed to the governing body of three barns to refrain from offering shops to Muslim traders in the famous harvest and worship of Kapu.
Hundreds of activists of pro-Hindu organizations have gathered in front of the new Marigudi and pleaded for no reason to allow non-Hindus to set up shop in the area around Marigudi. He insisted that only Hindus should be allowed to trade in Hindu religious centers.
Hindu activists have written to the head of the Kapu town municipality that Muslims should not be allowed to open shops during the 'Sugar Mari Pooja' which takes place in three famous cafes in Kapu. The letter states that the event will be held on March 22nd and March 23rd, when foreigners will have to close their shop at the fair and open the shop.
